ON THE ROAD

Pull up a stool.

Stools on the pavement, coffee made by hand, and whoever happens to be passing. This is how most people find NIR-MA-TA for the first time.

THE STORY

One cart, one guy, one road.

Juandi started with a single cart on the roadside. No power point, no fancy machine — beans ground by hand, espresso pulled by hand, brewed for whoever pulled up a stool.

Travellers kept stopping, then kept coming back, and most left a sticker behind. He's fussy about one thing above all: the beans. He's convinced he pours the best in Lombok, and he'll happily tell you why.

The cart became a shop next to the money exchange on Jl. Raya Senggigi. Next comes a kitchen — one step in a twelve-year plan he's had in his head the whole time.

“Best espresso I've had in Lombok. Made without electricity — just gas and muscle.”
